Overlooking the Hudson River, Michelson Studio is architecturally progressive in a Fifties & Sixties motif and boasts furnishings that can be found in the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Modern Art. From early morning until sunset natural light bathes the studio through the 50, 8ft windows, which access unobstructed views of the Hudson River & overlook river traffic that cruises from the Statue of Liberty to the Jersey Cliffs. The stark, white walls are dressed with art ranging from 18th c. Venetian paintings to photographs by Joel Peter Witkin, and the floors are a beautiful, semi-glossed, light, maple wood. From riveted steel bathrooms and a poured concrete kitchen to massive hinges and vault doors, a warm, industrial theme vibrates throughout the space. Michelson Studio can be easily divided into two separate spaces, by closing 2 fourteen-foot doors, with both areas visible from a mezzanine atop a flight of free-standing metal stairs.
